Home and studies
Use Home for what needs you across the studies you are on, and Studies for every study in the workspace you are allowed to see.
Who can open this: Anyone signed in to the workspace
Who this is for
Home and Studies are for anyone who can open the workspace. They are not one study's Overview.
Home reads the studies you are on the team of. A study you can only look at because the team turned on "Let every workspace member read this study" is not listed on Home. Studies lists more: an administrator sees every study in the workspace, and anyone else sees the studies they hold a seat on plus the studies opened to the whole workspace. Seats are named on Study team. A workspace role is not a study seat.
Table: which studies each page lists.
| Page | Studies listed |
|---|---|
| Home | Studies you are on the team of. Not a study opened only by "Let every workspace member read this study". |
| Studies | An administrator sees every study in the workspace. Anyone else sees studies they hold a seat on, plus studies opened to the whole workspace. |
"New study" is shown only to someone who may create studies. Anyone else does not get that button.
Administrators set organization policies in Settings, on "Policies". That page is "Enforced for every study and every person."
Steps
- Open Home. The title is "Home" and the line under it is "What needs you, what is due, and where to pick up." When you are on at least one study, the summary counts active studies, drafts, completed studies, and tasks that need your attention. "All studies" opens the full list. "New study" opens the start-a-study page when you may create one.
- Read "Needs your attention". Each row names the study, what is waiting, and one action that opens the page that clears it. A draft with setup still to do says how many of the 10 setup steps remain, tagged "Draft", and the action is "Continue setup". A principal investigator with answer-removal requests waiting sees "Removal request" and "Review requests". A person who can decide an identity-reveal request sees "Reveal request" and "Review request". If nothing is waiting, the card says "Nothing is waiting on you." More than five rows offers the rest of the list.
- Read "Upcoming deadlines" and "Recent studies". A deadline row shows the date and "Due today", "In [N] days", or "Overdue by [N] days", and opens that study. If none are coming, the card says "No deadlines coming up." "Recent studies" is the studies you are on that were updated most recently, up to three, each with "Open study". If you have not opened any, it says "Studies you open will be listed here."
- If you are on no study and nothing is waiting on you, Home shows "You are not on a study yet" and "What needs your attention and what is due will appear here once you are on a study's team," with "Open all studies".
- Open Studies. The title is "Studies" and the description is "Every study in this workspace." The summary counts active studies, drafts, completed, and archived, for the workspace's own studies. "Search studies" filters by name. "Filter by status" is "All", "Active", "Drafts", "Completed", and "Archived". "Your role" appears when you hold seats, and the choices are the seat names. "Sort by" orders the list. Columns are "Study", "Stage & progress", "Next deadline", and "Actions". A study created here shows its setup progress as "Setup · [N] of 10 steps ready". The row button reads "Continue setup".
- Use the empty states as they are written. With no studies, the title is "No studies yet." Someone who may create studies sees "Start one from a template or with a blank study" and "New study". Someone who may not sees "Studies you are added to will appear here. Someone with permission to create studies can start one." A filter that matches nothing says "No studies match these filters." and "Turn on another status, change the role, or clear the search." When the status filters hide completed studies, the page says so and offers to show them.
Outside production, Home can show a closed "Examples" section, badged "Sample", and Studies can list "Sample studies". Both say the figures are made up. They are not your studies, and they are not counted in the Studies summary. Production does not show them.
What the app will not do
- It will not list, on Home, a study you are not a member of.
- It will not show every workspace study to someone who is not an administrator, unless they are on that study or the study is open to the whole workspace.
- It will not offer "New study" to someone who may not create studies.
- It will not put a tutorial or a glossary on Home or Studies. Neither page has that link.
- It will not treat sample studies as records. They are demonstrations, and they are omitted in production.
